It is almost the end to another school year. Have you though of the perfect teacher’s gift yet? If not this one is not only super adorable it is also relatively easy. All you need is an hour of your time, pencils and a great pencil sharpener.
Over the course of this week I have been working in increments of 15 minutes at a time to finish this project. Why 15 minutes? That was the amount of time given by my very old, but electric pencil sharpener before it over heated.
Total Cost for Project
(1) Shadow Box from Home Goods =$12.00
(3) 12 pk pencils from the dollar store =$3.00
Various stickers from my stock pile = ?????
(1) Your Time & Effort = Priceless Memory for your child’s teacher.
First stencil out the your letter of choice and size it accordingly to your shadow box frame. Next is the fun part, cutting your pencils. I used scissors to blunt cut my edges and filed them down with a good old emery board. Place them on your stencil to form your letter.
When all your pencils are cut to your expectations, hot glue them in place on your background paper (removing your previous stencil outline).
Then add your teacher’s name with sticker letters. Above his/her name write-out “Thank you for helping me grow” I put my son’s name right below this script. I add a few flower stickers to complete this project. Viola!!! An inexpensive heart-felt teacher gift.
I hope that this inspires your crafty side. I am looking forward to seeing my son’s teacher open her present. She is an amazing teacher and deserve so much more (as do most teachers).
