Natural Ingredients Needed

You can grab these simple ingredients straight from your pantry to make this facial cleanser. You can also substitute coconut oil for different oils. See frequently asked questions below.

  • 1/4 cup of Coconut Oil – recommend unrefined, virgin coconut oil.
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 5 drops of essential oil – your favorite

Benefits of Most Common Essential Oils

Several types of essential oils can be used in your skincare routine. Here are a few you may want to use by themselves or create a blend of oils.

Tea Tree oil –  Also known as melaleuca oil. This oil is an antibacterial, antifungal, and is an anti-oxidant. These actions will help reduce inflammation and enhance healing

Lavender oil – This oil is one of the most versatile oils. It is known for reducing inflammation and aiding in healing.

Bergamot – This essential oil balances sebum production in the skin, making it suitable for all skin types.

How to Make This Homemade Face Wash

STEP ONE: In a microwave-safe small bowl, melt coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat if needed. We need it in its liquid state.

Side note: Before combining with other ingredients. Oil must be in liquid form and cooled. Combining hot oil and honey is risky. It can change the quality and risk potentially receiving all the raw honey nutrients and benefits.

STEP TWO: Combine melted coconut oil, 2 tbsp honey, and your choice of essential oil.

STEP THREE: Pour this mixture into your container of choice using a funnel. I would suggest using a reusable tall bottle with a cap. Like this one, I found on Amazon or a glass jar of your preference.

How to Wash Your Face With DIY Oil Cleanser

STEP ONE: First, shake the container a few times. Just to make sure everything is mixed well.

STEP TWO: Use a small amount, roughly the size of a nickel to a quarter amount. Place it in your hands and rub it together. Then apply to the face using circular motions for about 45 seconds to a minute.

STEP THREE: Use a damp washcloth and warm water to wipe your face clean. When your face no longer feels oily to the touch, you are done.

The Benefits of Coconut Oil

Do you have a tub of coconut oil sitting in your pantry taking up space? Not everyone quite understands all the benefits of what is contained in that little jar. For skincare, I recommend going with an unrefined, virgin coconut oil.

Coconut oil is truly an amazing superfood. Not only does it taste good, but it has a multitude of benefits for the body on the inside and out. You can use it to cook, soothe dry skin, and much more. If you haven’t been using this type of oil, it is time to rethink and pull that little jar back out to the front of the pantry.

Benefits of Raw Honey

RAW honey is most likely sold at your local farmers’ market and not what is sold on most grocery store shelves is amazing. Most honey that you buy in the grocery store has been heated and pasteurized, losing many of its benefits.

Raw honey has anti-bacterial properties, as well as anti-viral and anti-fungal. Powerful stuff. It is great for healing acne and is a humectant that draws moisture to the skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Make The Switch To A Natural Approach

Make the switch to a more organic approach to skincare with this homemade coconut oil and honey face wash cleanser. Say goodbye to dull, tired skin and hello to a healthy and radiant complexion. Your skin will thank you for it!

    1. Hi Kim,
What I do before I wash my face is fill a cup up with hot water and let the bottle rest for a few minutes. Then I shake it up. You could also switch oils (depending on your skin care goals). For example, instead of using coconut oil you can substitute it for olive oil. Both have good benefits for your skin.
