Target’s Valentine’s Day Clearance Schedule!

Now that Valentine’s day is over, the clearance event at Target is right around the corner. This is a great time to get stock up for next year or items that you can still use and eat anytime.

We all love some good chocolate. And you know chocolate isn’t just a food we eat once a year. Let’s get down to business and talk sales.

Please note that the Valentine’s clearance will also include some items from the Dollar Spot.

How Target’s Clearance Sales Work

Typically Target will begin reducing holiday items starting at 50%. Please keep in mind that once it reaches 90% off, it will be on sale for a few days and then

Target will pull the items completely out of their system and remove them from their whole store. Target holiday markdowns usually follow a 3-3-2 schedule.

What does that mean? Clearance merchandise goes to 50% off the day after the holiday, then 3 days later 70%. Again, 3 days after that, whatโ€™s left is 90% off.ย  2 days after that it goes to salvage (Goodwill).

Which doesn’t give us a lot of time.

Target Valentine’s Day Clearance Tips

Don’t forget to check your coupon stash for candy coupons. There is nothing wrong with eating Valentine’s Day candy after Valentine’s Day.

In fact, it tastes better because it was purchased at a deep discount. Need coupons? Check out our listing of the best coupon sites.

Thinking of purchasing items that may be great gift ideas for later on. When shopping clearance, it is important to have a place to put what you buy (especially when stockpiling gifts). Spending lots of money that is outside the parameters of your budget is never wise, so be sure to pay attention to your spending.

You can easily get wrapped up in a sale and forget that your budget ever existed. I highly recommend signing up for a Target RedCARD debit card. This is NOT a credit card. It is a debit card just for Target that syncs with your bank account, AND you save 5% off on all purchases. I love this.

Since I am shopping at Target anyway, why not save an additional 5% off? The only thing to keep in mind is that it takes a few days for the money to come out of your account.

As a reference, here are the dates for Target Valentine’s Day clearance schedule.

Please note this is how they were marked down last year.

  • 50% off ~ February 15th
  • 70% off ~ February 17th
  • 90% off ~ February 19th
