Looking for a great place to take the kids while visiting upstate New York, You are going to want to check out Great Escape Indoor Water Park. Over 38,000 square feet of water fun. Plan your indoor water park stay.
Six Flags Great Escape Lodge Indoor Water Park
If you have kids, chances are you’ve heard of Six Flags Great Escape Lodge Indoor Water Park. If, of course, you live in upstate New York. It is one of the special trips you can make with your kids; typically during the winter months to make you feel like you are living in the summertime.
You can certainly visit all year-round, even on great weather days.
It’s Not Just a Waterpark
Events during the week will include crafts, beach games, themed dancing parties, and much more. Friday and Saturday events will include a live band and a rocking beach dance party…
Welcome to the Caribbean, mon! In case you didn’t already know, the weather is always a tropical 82 degrees. Ahhhhh… Let that sink in for a moment. My family was invited to attend this year’s Spring Break Escape festivities. First, (DISCLAIMER) my family are season pass holders to the Six Flags Great Escape Amusement Park and have never been to the indoor water park before. CRAZY, right?
We live so close (just 45 minutes away) and yet we have never planned a trip.
Great Escape Lodge is all about the kids. Most of the fun centers around the water park; so if you or your kids aren’t keen on getting wet, and staying wet for long periods of time, this is not the place for you. But for the rest of us, welcome to waterpalooza!
With a 38,000-square-foot indoor water park open all year, with multiple water slides available for everyone from the teeny tiny visitor to the thrill-seeker, there’s water, water, and more water!
Safety First is a Priority at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge
The lifeguards are well-trained, so you can relax knowing your kids are safe! Most of them were just darn right sweet. They made our time there extra special. My son played “splash the lifeguard” which happened by accident (so he swears).
And of course, the lifeguard reacted with a great game face. As he walked around to our section to make sure everyone was safe, he was on guard for a small splash from my son. He made light of it and splashed back a few times.
Extra Activities
Besides all the water park fun, you can enjoy many of the craft activities, games, or character meet and greets that occur throughout the day. My kids and I enjoyed eating cookies, drinking lemonade, and meeting Oakley the bear, all while making a super cute photo frame.
One of the things that I enjoyed most… (Speaking from my frugal perspective) is you can purchase day passes to the water park and enjoy all the hotel events occurring that day as part of your pass. You don’t have to spend the night to have a great time. The water park opens at 9:30 am and closes at 9 pm, which makes for a nice long day.
We actually left around 4:30 pm as the kids were wiped out from all the fun. The ride home was very quiet, 15 minutes in, and CRASH..they fell fast asleep.
FOOD!!!! I almost forgot to mention. How could I? It is just as important as the water park itself.
Where to Eat
The dining is set as casual. Six Flags Great Escape Lodge Indoor Water Park offers different restaurant options for the whole family to enjoy. You can enjoy Americana at Johnny Rockets, take a break at the Birch Bark Grill, or sit back and enjoy a casual dining experience at Tall Tales Tavern.
We chose to eat at Johnny Rockets, and the prices were very reasonable and not overpriced at all.
It was a wonderful experience and fun to do for the family. So grab your suits and swim shoes and make a splash by visiting Six Flags Great Escape Indoor Water Park!

Worst stay ever . Me and my family were racially profiled at this place they would follow us around after my husband paid thousands of dollars for his family to enjoy vacation like everyone else there. Not to mention the didn’t let us know the theme park is closed on certain days the main reason for our stay and tried to bribe us with free milk shake coupons. It’s honestly not worth the stay just go to six flags and stay elsewhere
Oh Goodness!! I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Could not come this year no one night stays connot afford two nights that is not right i have going there for six straight years and now this hope it goes back to the way it was so I can afford to.go back
