It is not summertime without having a popsicle in your hand. And there’s nothing like enjoying an ice-cold popsicle after a day of fun in the sun! This summer you can get creative by making the easiest and most delicious homemade peach lemonade pops.
BONUS! To all the mamas out there — these are healthier than your average popsicle. These contain down-to-earth ingredients and a lot less sugar. The problem with the store-bought kind is that they typically contain high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, and dyes.
Creating our own popsicles at home is a big checkmark in my book especially since I have a child who is very sensitive to red dyes.
Let’s get started
Before we dig into this peach lemonade popsicle recipe, it’s important that we’re working with a good popsicle mold! Here are our favorites for making perfect homemade pops:
If you don’t have a popsicle mold, shot glasses, yogurt containers, muffin tins, and ice cube trays, work well! You can get creative. Just a note: the mixture will naturally expand as it freezes, so be sure to leave a little space at the top of your mold when you add the mixture.
Ingredients Needed for Peach Popsicles
- 4 cups of frozen peaches sliced and peeled
- Juice of one lemon
- 3 tablespoons of raw honey
- 3 cups of water
How to make your Homemade Peach Lemonade Pops
First, you will want to add all ingredients into a blender. Blend on high speed for just a few minutes until all peaches are fully blended.
If you prefer to have chunks of peaches throughout, use the pulse button until you reach your desired consistency.
Then pour your popsicle mixture into your choice of mold. If needed, add sticks or place mold lids on top to close. Now you are ready to freeze.
You will want to freeze your pops on an even surface in your freezer to prevent any leaks or spills. Freeze for at least 4-6 hours.
If you have purchased a mold for making your pops, check the directions on the packaging as each contains different fill points and may require more timing.
How to Unmold Your Popsicles
The quickest and easiest way to unmold your popsicles is by running the mold under warm water. I just hold the bottoms of the mold under running water, moving it around to evenly warm each mold.
It should just take a few seconds to melt long enough to release the pop.
Other Fruit Substitutions
Peaches are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to choices for homemade popsicles. Using the same ratio as above, you can substitute for any berry.
Strawberry, blueberry, blackberry… and, or hey, mix them all together for a berry treat. You can also use mango, pineapple, kiwi, banana, peach, or watermelon.
Anything you put in your smoothie in the morning will work as well. These would be a great after-workout treat too. Making homemade fruit popsicles is a fun way for kids and adults to experiment in the kitchen.
Looking to make them sweeter?
Honey is my favorite sweetener to use in this recipe because it’s natural, imparts a subtle but delicious flavor, and is not too expensive!
We tried a batch with maple syrup and while it was tasty; I don’t prefer popsicles with a maple flavor! Other suggestions are agave, pure cane sugar, or your favorite liquid sweetener!
How to store your homemade popsicles
These homemade fruit popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months (if they don’t get eaten right away)! Try keeping them in their original molds.
