Looking for an elegant dip that tastes great and is easy to put together? It is party time with this salmon dip. It will truly save the day. And goes well with baked crackers, celery sticks, and mini bagel crisps.
I am going to be honest here: You can’t buy store-bought dip that tastes this good. This dip is dressed to impress. If you have ever purchased in-store salmon dip, you know that the salmon chunks are small, and the base is more creamy.
Homemade is the real deal. And 100% better in flavor.
It is perfect to serve at parties. People just go nuts over it. You can serve it cold or warm, depending on your preference. We enjoy it both ways. We may also want to try these Fresh Salmon Burgers.

- 8 oz of fresh Alaskan Salmon or pre-smoked salmon.

- 1 Tablespoon of Dill

Using Smoked Salmon
There are a couple of preparation methods, but in general, smoked salmon is made by curing and smoking the fish. (Fun fact: lox is cured, but not smoked.) It is typically served cold, often with cream cheese and dill, and is a mainstay on many brunch menus.
Smoked salmon is ‘cured’ by smoking, so strictly speaking, it is neither cooked nor raw.
How to make this smoked salmon dip.
STEP ONE: If smoking your salmon – To smoke the salmon, prepare your smoker with alder, cherry, or apple smoker chips. Get your smoker to 250°f. Place salmon on a board wrapped in foil and sprayed with oil. Once the smoker reaches a steady 250° temp, set the salmon to smoke for 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 140°f. Remove salmon once smoked and let rest for 5 minutes.
STEP TWO: Remove the skin and shred the salmon. Take the smoked salmon, shred it, and place it aside.
STEP THREE: Next, mix all remaining ingredients into a food processor and blend or pulse depending on the desired creaminess of the dip. For a creamy consistency, blend the ingredients. For a chunky consistency, pulse the ingredients.
STEP FOUR: Add salmon and creamed mixture to a mixing bowl and fold in until combined completely. Serve chilled with vegetables, gourmet crackers, and or baguette chips.
Side Note: This dip does taste better after resting in the fridge for 24 hours before serving. You can also substitute cream cheese with plain yogurt.
